LHU’s Zalar earns All-PSAC honors, hits PR on Day One of PSACs
SHIPPENSBURG – The Lock Haven men’s outdoor track and field team opened the first of three days of competition at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships in Shippensburg, Pa., on Thursday.
Eric Zalar earned All-PSAC honors and took third in the Hammer Throw with a new personal-best and NCAA Provisional mark.
On Zalar’s final throw of the evening, he reached 195-2 (59.48m) and secured Lock Haven’s first team points of the weekend.
Ty King also set a new personal-best mark in the event. King secured a spot in the finals and finished ninth by reaching 159-0 (48.46m).
Nick Bellomo – a Jersey Shore graduate – currently sits in third place in the Decathlon with 3509 points after the first five events.
Bellomo opened the Decathlon with a second-place finish in the 100m with a 11.06.
After back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Long Jump (21-11/6.68m) and Shot Put (36-7.5/11.16m), Bellomo earned second in the High Jump by clearing 6-2 (1.88m).
He finished his day by taking sixth in the 400m (53.24).
The Lock Haven men’s track and field team will continue competition at the PSAC Championships in Shippensburg on Friday and Saturday.
