Local roundup: Bellefonte baseball run-rule St. Mary’s, posts sixth straight road win

On Monday afternoon, Bellefonte baseball completed half its six-game road stint with its third straight win, run-ruling St. Mary’s in six innings, 10-0, to improve to 11-3 on the season. It erupted for three runs to start before finishing things off with a five-run sixth.

Quentin Croutharmel logged three hits, including a homer, and finished with four RBIs to lead another offensive eruption for the Red Raiders. Defensively, Zach Lehman and Triston Heeman combined for a two-hit gem from the mound, with Lehman striking out eight and Heeman tossing two perfect innings.

Though the Red Raiders have dropped three games this season, none have come on the road. Monday’s marked its sixth consecutive road victory.

Elijah Eck walloped a first inning grand slam, Logan Kirby threw his fifth straight gem and Montoursville clinched its 36th straight playoff berth Monday afternoon, defeating Jersey Shore, 8-3.

Eck’s grand slam highlighted a seven run first inning and Kirby, allowed just two hits and an unearned run while striking out 12. Kirby, 5-0 this year, also collected his 200th career strikeout. Eck’s grand slam was the only hit Jersey Shore allowed but the Warriors (10-2) took advantage of 11 walks.

Mason Winter threw 6 1/3 innings of one-hit baseball for Jersey Shore and struck out four. Hunter Enders had two hits, Tucker Hanna doubled and Carson Watkins had a hit, RBI and run.
