On Thursday afternoon, the Bellefonte baseball team kept up its dominant road stretch, exploding for its most runs of the season in the process. 14 hits helped it notch 19 runs in five innings while the field produced its third straight shutout, as it routed Bedford, 19-0.
In three separate innings, the Red Raiders scored four or more runs. Braeden Fortney (3-for-3) and Zach Lehman each hit a home run and double to headline an outing where eight extra-base hits were logged, combining for nine RBIs. And Ollie Thornburg notched two doubles.
On the mound, Lehman and Carsen Henry combined for a five-hit shut out. Lehman picked up the win and punched out six batters, and Henry finished with four strikeouts through two innings of relief.
In a pitcher’s duel, Bedford softball got the better of Bellefonte on Thursday afternoon. Though the Red Raiders outpaced it in hits, 3-2, the Bisons made the most of their two hits, edging out Bellefonte, 2-1.
On the mound, Abby Herr put together another standout performance, striking out 12 through six innings while allowing just three walks and two hits. Ella Herr bat Abby Herr home to generate the team’s lone run, and Sloan Moore also attributed a hit.
