Lock Haven softball sweeps Holy Family on road

PHILADELPHIA – The red-hot Lock Haven softball team traveled to Holy Family for a non-conference doubleheader and left with a 10-4, 6-4 sweep in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bald Eagles have now won six of their last seven games to improve to 17-13 on the season. Holy Family falls to 10-16.

GAME ONE: Lock Haven 10, Holy Family 4

The Haven scored nine runs over the opening three innings to run away with a 10-4 victory in game one.

Talia Ross picked up her team-leading 11th victory on the mound by going the distance and limiting Holy Family to four runs (one earned) on five hits. The southpaw struck out a game-high eight hitters.

Olivia LaMeau continued her hot streak as of late by going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs scored and a double.

Blaire Balestrini (2B), Maci Brodzina, Madison Melius and Madison Hardy also drove in runs, while Balestrini and Brodzina combined for five scored runs.

The Bald Eagles finished with a game-high eight hits.

GAME TWO: Lock Haven 6, Holy Family 4

In the nightcap, Lock Haven put up three runs in the top of the third inning, but the host quickly responded with two runs to trim The Haven’s lead to 3-2.

The Bald Eagles, however, scored three runs over the fourth and fifth innings, which proved to be the difference. Despite Holy Family rallying for a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth frames, Keiva Middlton shut the door in the seventh for her second save of the season to lock up the victory.

Faith Persing (4-3) earned the win in the circle after tossing six-complete innings, allowing four runs and striking out a pair.

Six different Bald Eagles found the hit column, led by two RBIs from Evelyn Osborne. Hardy and Persing also drove in runs.

The Bald Eagles return home to host Millersville in PSAC East action on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
