Wagaman Jr. wins 410 sprints at Williams Grove Speedway

The PA Posse was active last weekend at Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways. Troy Wagaman Jr. claimed the 30-lap Tommy Hinnershitz Classic for 410 sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.

It was his first win in the race, worth $8,000. It was also the first oval win of the season for the defending track champion.

The victory was the fifth overall of Wagaman’s career at Williams Grove Speedway. It was also the second of the season at the track for mounts owned by Mike Heffner as Steven Snyder Jr. wheeled to a win for the stables in early April.

The Spring Sprint Special featuring a rare three-division open wheel sprint car show will be spun off at Williams Grove Speedway coming up Friday at 7:30 pm.

On the racing card will be the 410 sprints, the wingless super sportsman and the PASS IMCA 305 sprint cars.

For their part, the 410 sprints will compete in timed warm ups to set the heat starting grids before returning to compete in a 25-lap, $5,500 to win main event.

The wingless sportsman will also conduct timed warm ups however they will return to compete in a feature only.

On Saturday night Chase Dietz charged to a win in the 33-lap, $7,069-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial, marking the first appearance of the season for the PA Posse 410 sprint series.

Kyle Moody and Troy Wagaman led the field to green, with Wagaman getting the jump and leading the field into turn one. Moody settled into second while Brock Zearfoss held third, as Dietz quickly went to work from the second row.

By lap four, Dietz made his presence known, sliding past Zearfoss to take over third. As the leaders approached lapped traffic on lap seven, the intensity ramped up. Moody began to close in on Wagaman, but Dietz had other plans — driving into second and immediately setting his sights on the leader. Dietz finally had control on lap 17, Dietz was flawless on each restart, keeping Wagaman at bay over the final 11 laps to secure the prestigious victory.

Behind him, the fight for fourth came down to the wire, with Rahmer and Danny Dietrich exchanging the position multiple times in the closing laps. Dietrich ultimately edged Rahmer at the stripe to claim fourth. The victory was Dietz’s second of the season at Lincoln for Dietz and an exciting kickoff to the PA Posse 410 Sprint Series at Lincoln Speedway.

Cody Fletcher capitalized on late-race misfortune to score his third consecutive victory of the season in the 20-lap, $2,069-to-win main event sponsored by Snelbecker Electric.

Lincoln Speedway is back in action on Saturday with the PA micro midgets, East Coast Legend Series, limited stocks and classic cars. Racing is scheduled for 4 p.m.

At Clinton County George Dixon won his first feature limited late model feature on Friday night in a thrilling race filled with excitement to the checkered flag. Cory Long of Selinsgrove won his second consecutive feature event in pro stock competition, while Mason McAndrew won the 270 micro sprints and Hunter Flook of Avis won the four cylinders.

This coming Friday has a scheduled five-division show. The Race Saver sprint cars, pro stocks, 270 micro sprints, four cylinders and the Rising Stars Jr. Sprints will be on the card.

At BAPs, Scott Dellinger continued his hot streak by capturing his third consecutive Super Sportsman feature in dominant fashion. Dellinger led all 25 laps from the drop of the green, showing complete control of the field and solidifying himself as the driver to beat in the division with his third consecutive win in a row.

The legend cars made their debut in impressive fashion, drawing a strong field of 34 cars to kick off the night. When the checkered flag flew on the 15-lap feature, it was Logan Jones standing in victory lane after holding off a hard-charging Michael Mohelski for the win.
