MILL HALL – On Friday afternoon, the veteran Central Mountain Wildcat softball team (2-0) hosted a young, up-and-coming Mifflin County (1-4) team in a non-league home contest.
The game was a back-and-forth thriller as each team had its chances to secure the victory. But in the end, it was the Wildcats that would take home the 6-5, walk-off victory over a tough Huskies squad. Payton Williams singled with the bases loaded in the seventh, giving the home team the victory.
“I’m proud of them. They didn’t give up, but we gotta make it not so stressful maybe next time,” said Central Mountain manager Taylor Thompson. “Cam came in, and she did a great job relief, and the girls’ sticks were there.”
“We’ve got some work to do, but I’ll take it. They are showing their grit, and they’re showing that they can fight back when they need to,” she added.
Picking up with win from the mound was Central Mountain’s Camdyn Weaver.
