Bald Eagle Area honors its seniors in softball rout vs. Hollidaysburg
TIM WEIGHT/For The Express Bald Eagle Area’s Casey Angellotti, Addisyn Burns and Hayley Simpson were honored prior to Thursday’s 15-5 win against Hollidaysburg on Bald Eagle Area’s senior night.
Bald Eagle Area cruised past Hollidaysburg in a five-inning game via mercy rule, 15-5, giving its seniors a fitting senior night victory.
The Bald Eagle Area softball team honored seniors Casey Angellotti, Addisyn Burns and Haley Simpson.
It’s the fifth win in a row for the Eagles and their second time beating Hollidaysburg this season after a 17-11 win back on March 24.
Harlee Witherite pitched all five innings and struck out two, giving up six hits and a walk. Seniors Angellotti and Burns both played well on senior night as the duo combined for a 5 for 6 effort with Angellotti hitting a grand slam in the second inning.
Bald Eagle Area has two games remaining until the District 6 playoffs as the Eagles face Huntingdon on Monday and Williamsport next Thursday.
Bald Eagle Area held just a 1-0 lead against Hollidaysburg after the first inning before erupting for seven runs in the second inning. Hollidaysburg cut the deficit to 8-4 in the top of the third, but Bald Eagle Area would score seven runs from there.
Burns ended 3 for 3 with a triple and three runs scored and Angellotti was 2 for 3 with four RBIs in addition to her grand slam. Raelee Repasky went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and two runs, Macey Guenot went 1 for 2 with an RBI and scored twice, Maelee Yoder finished 1 for 3 with an RBI and scored twice and Lilly Harter finished the day with a 1 for 3 effort with a double and RBI scored.
With the win, Bald Eagle Area moves to 14-4 and 12-4 in the Laurel Highlands conference.
Hollidaysburg was led by Maggie Hicks (2 for 3, double, RBI, two runs), Halle Chandler (2 for 3, doubl, RBI), Genevieve Peacock (1 for 3, RBI, run) and Mikaylah Vincent (1 for 3, run).
