Bellefonte softball beats Tyrone 5-1
BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte softball team won its second consecutive win on Thursday, securing a 5-1 win against Tyrone at home a day after beating Clearfield, 4-0.
Bellefonte’s Abby Herr threw all seven innings and had six scoreless frames with 11 strikeouts, allowing three hits and only four walks. It was Bellefonte’s third straight win and the first time the Red Raiders have gone above .500 since early April.
Bellefonte fought for nine walks and both teams were limited to just three hits.
Herr went 1 for 4 with two RBIs, Ella Herr went 1 for 4 and Adrienne Masullo went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Peyton Rimmey had an RBI and three walks, Sloan Moore had two runs scored, Riley Santostefano scored a run with two walks and Rorie Roan and Madison Kellogg scored.
Bellefonte jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Tyrone cut the deficit to 2-1 through five innings, but in the bottom of the sixth, Bellefonte scored three to pull away.
Tyrone was led by Paisley Fix, who hit a home run. Ally McNelis and Sage Harris had singles.
