Jersey Shore Elizabeth Hollick finished the 100 hurdles preliminaries with a time of 16.04, less than half a second behind Mikayla Martin of Selinsgrove, and secured herself a spot in the finals on Saturday. That top-3 finish in the prelims means she’s guaranteed a top-8 finish on Saturday in Class AAA.

Hollick also took home a top-3 medal on Thursday by doing so in the high jump. The Bulldog cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to take bronze in the district championships, behind only Williamsport’s Isabelle Morrow (5-5) and Aletha Fletcher (5-5).

Also taking third on Thursday was Jersey Shore’s Lucy Engel. Engel tied for third in the pole vault with a height of 8-6, tying with Shamokin’s Sophia Martinez. Sarah Bronowicz of Shikellamy won district gold with a height of 10-6.

Jersey Shore’s Aaralynn Kimble was a seventh-place finisher in the 100 preliminaries, which secured her spot in Saturday’s finals. It also ensured she will be a top-8 finisher on Saturday in Class AAA competition. She ran a time of 12.97 in the preliminaries.

Nina Steppe of Jersey Shore took eighth in the shot put wtih a throw of 30-0 1/2 and in the high jump, Vivian Hale took seventh with a height of 4-9. In the javelin, the Bulldogs saw Bella Hensler throw 95-11 to take home an eighth-place finish.

Jersey Shore’s girls 3,200 relay team took seventh with a time fo 11:07.06 as Williamsport’s Isabelle Sanders, Madeline Sanders, Loisa Hofstrom and Mila Veldhuis set the District 4 record in 9:17.61 to win gold.

Jersey Shore’s Khani McCray was the Bulldogs’ highest boys finisher on Day 1 of competition as he took fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 1 inch. He also took a sixth-place finish home in the high jump with a height of 5-9.

In the discus, Jersey Shore’s Jake Machmer threw 130-6 for a sixth-place finish. In the 3200, Jersey Shore’s Samuel Davis ran a time of 10:13.96 to take home a sixth-place finish, just over a second behind Montoursville’s Cy Haight, who finished 10:12.32 for fifth. Midd-West’s Grant Boop finished with gold in 9:56.01.

Jersey Shore’s boys 3,200 relay team finished sixth in 10:11.63 as Midd-West won in 7:53.08.
