Local roundup: BEA softball falls to Williamsport

Ashlyn Robinson reached some impressive milestones and had a big day, helping Williamsport close its regular season on a high note. Robinson threw a three-hit shutout, reached 100 strikeouts this season, as well as 200 for her career, and went 4 for 4 as Williamsport blanked Bald Eagle Area, 3-0. Robinson struck out seven to reach the single-season and career marks and belted an RBI triple. Kinsley Cannode added two hits and scored. Payton Pennycoff hit an RBI single during a three-run fifth inning rally and Emma Vollman scored that inning while Brenna Beck added an RBI and scored. Williamsport (16-3) will be the top seed in the District 2-4 Class 6A playoffs and host either Scranton or Wyoming Valley West in the semifinals.

Bald Eagle Area was led by Raelee Rapasky who went 1 for 3 with a double.

Dani Miller went 2 for 3 with a home run, helping Jersey Shore defeat Danville, 6-4. The Bulldogs (13-5) eliminated Danville from postseason contention, meaning it will take part in a four team Class AAAA tournament. Lexi Frey also had two hits and Lynna Clark threw a six-hitter while striking out seven. Jersey Shore concludes its regular season Friday at Milton.
