Local roundup: LHU track teams have success at PSAC Championships
The Lock Haven women’s outdoor track and field team completed the third and final day of competition at the PSAC Outdoor Championships in Shippensburg.
Freshman Olivia Spotts, a Jersey Shore graduate, earned All-PSAC honors in the javelin. Spotts took third place with an NCAA provisional mark of 141 feet, 8 inches.
Maria Puglia also impressed in the event with a fifth-place finish. Puglia had a career-best mark of 135-6.
Nicole Caroll earned fifth place in the 800. Carroll finished the race in 2:17.98 and has found the podium in back-to-back seasons in the event.
Makayla Grace Weber took eighth place on the podium in the 400 hurdles. Weber finished in 1:05.38.
Clarissa Davis earned her way on the podium in the shot put. Davis reached a mark of 40-5 and finished in eighth place.

Montoursville graduate Josiah Schans set a new Lock Haven program record in the 110 hurdles as he took first place in the event. The junior finished with an impressive time of 14.07 and earned an NCAA provisional.
Anden Aitkins earned second place and all-conference honors in the 800m with a new personal-best time of 1:51.46. Aitkin’s time ranks second in school history in the event.
Jakob Rager and Hughesville graduate Morgan Gavitt both found the podium in the event as well. Rager took seventh with a 1:56.22 and Gavitt finished eighth with a time of 1:57.06.
Jersey Shore graduate Peter Bellomo earned All-PSAC honors and a silver medal in the javelin. Bellomo reached an NCAA provisional on his season-best throw of 205-9.
Schans also earned all-conference honors in the 400 hurdles. Schans took third with a time of 54.19.
