Local roundup: Shore tennis beats Shikellamy 5-0

Jersey Shore secured a 5-0 win against Shikellamy in boys tennis on Friday.

Jersey Shore’s Ryder Fink had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Shikellamy’s Carson Faust and at No. 2 singles, Ezra Paulhamus defeated Ryley McDonald, 6-1, 6-0. Saul Hensler of Jersey Shore beat Andy Faust, 6-2, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Abram Paulhamus and Dillon Harsanyi beat Ben Zimmerman and Kinsley Erb, 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 2, Abram Bower and Camden Stellfox beat Jesse Kearney and Ethan Rorke, 6-3, 6-0.

• The Lock Haven women’s outdoor track and field team completed the second of three days of competition at the PSAC Outdoor Championships in Shippensburg.

Kaydence Strange wrapped the day of competition by finding the podium in the 3,000 steeplechase with a new personal-best. Strange finished the race with a time of 11:40.70 to take eighth place.

Makayla Grace Weber qualified for tomorrow’s finals of the 400 hurdles. Weber finished with the eighth-best preliminary time of 1:03.92 and guaranteed her spot on the podium.

Kelci Carle also had a strong performance in the event by taking 13th with a 1:05.00. Samantha Trench finished 10th in the 100 hurdles prelims. Trench finished in 15.01.

Natalie Gentzel, Carle, Reagan Irons and Weber took 12th in the 400 relay. The Bald Eagle quartet finished the race in 50.83. South Williamsport graduate Lillian Bradley finished 14th in 100 prelims with a time of 12.28. Bradley also competed in the 200 prelims and finished 22nd with a 25.82.

On the men’s side for Lock Haven, freshman phenom Brayden Frair took home his first taste of gold in the 3,000 steeplechase with a new personal-best. Frair won a close finish behind the time of 9:23.36 to conclude a strong day of performances from the Bald Eagles and earned 10 team points.

Jersey Shore graduate Nick Bellomo earned second place in the decathlon behind his great efforts in the pole vault. Bellomo cleared 14 feet, 7 1/2 inches in the event and finished with his season-best 6,644 points to earn All-PSAC honors.

Montoursville graduate Josiah Schans cruised to first in the prelims of the hurdle events. Schans earned an NCAA provisional time of 14.27 in the 110 hurdles and finished the 400m Hurdles in 53.30. He will compete in the finals of both events tomorrow as the top qualifier.

Matt Reinard also earned a spot in the finals of the 400m Hurdles with the third-best preliminary time of 54.44

Three Bald Eagles qualified for the finals in the 800, highlighted by the performance of Jakob Rager. Rager finished with the best preliminary time of 1:53.69.
