MILL HALL — Opening night of the Appalachian Super Late Model Speedweek got underway on Friday at Clinton County Speedway. In an exciting 40-lap feature event with several changes for the lead, and three cars contended for the win in the closing laps, Trevor Feathers became the eventual victor claiming the $5,000 paycheck.

AJ Hoffman won the pro stocks and Matthew Duvall won the SCRDA four-cylinder event.

Gregg Satterlee who set fast time with a lap of 13.086, also breaking the one-lap track record, started the pole of the 40-lap A-main by virtue of winning the dash. Satterlee and Feathers brought the field to full speed for the start of the race. Satterlee jumped into the early lead with Feathers in tow. The caution flag waved on lap five, when Tyler Horst spun in Turn 2. Satterlee brought the field back to the green flag with Feathers in second, Dylan Yoder of Selinsgrove passed Colin Casale for the third position on the restart.

Matt Cochran of Williamsport, who started in 12th place, worked his way into the top five by the completion of lap eight. Cochran advanced into the fourth spot on lap ten and began to challenge Yoder for the third spot. Satterlee continued to lead Feathers, Yoder, Cochran and Bernheisel and was quickly catching the rear of the field by the completion of lap 15.

With the restart, Feathers made a run on Satterlee to take the lead and Matt Cochran also passed Satterlee, moving into the runner up position. On lap 20, Cochran took the lead from Feathers, but Feathers took it back three circuits later to lead lap 23. Dylan Yoder entered the mix making it a three car battle for the lead as Satterlee and Bernheisel were running in the top five.

A caution on lap 25 occurred when Iowa’s Tom Morris III stopped on the front stretch just in front of the leaders.

Feathers held off the challenges of Cochran as the field came back to speed on lap 26. Cochran and Yoder battled for several laps allowing Feathers to pull away by a few car lengths. Cochran, in a limited late model, was in a fierce battle for with Yoder for the second postion. Yoder managed to make a pass on the white flag lap but was unable to chase down Feathers.

Feathers took the checkered flag with a margin of victory of 3.724 seconds. Yoder was second edging out Cochran followed by Satterlee and Bernheisel.

Jim Farley and AJ Hoffman started on the front row of the pro stock feature event. Hoffman took the lead at the drop of the green flag. Fourt-place starter AJ Stroup moved into second by the completion of lap number two and was closing in on Hoffman. Stroup took the lead on lap five, but Hoffman stayed in contention with AY Schilling of Linden, Cory Long of Selinsgrove and Louis Belise racing in the top five.

Hoffman regained the lead on lap nine. As Stroup was trying to race back to the lead, he spun in turn four to bring out the caution. Hoffman would lead the final six laps to claim the victory over Schilling, Long, Marc Bitler of Milton, and Stroup.

Matthew Duvall of Robertdale started on the pole for the SCDRA four cylinder feature event. He jumped into the lead with second-place starter Ryan Lippert of Clearfield glued to his back bumper. With five laps complete, Duvall and Lippert were leading eighth place starter Chris Anderson, Larry Beachel of New Columbia and Matt Weaver. Jimmy Moyer of Lewistown entered the top five by the completion of lap 10.

With five laps to go, Duvall continued to pace the field with Lippert, Beachel, Moyer and Weaver running in the top five. Moyer passed Beachel for third on lapnumber 17.

The Clinton County Speedway returns on Friday with the first of three 410 sprint car races on the scheduled this season.
