Jersey Shore/GSV major baseball falls in district tournament quarterfinals; Keystone 9-11s win

The District 12 major baseball tournament resumed on Sunday with winners’ bracket quarterfinal games.

Two days after blanking Keystone, 3-0, in a defensive gem with not much offense, Williamsport Area exploded for 16 runs in a 16-1 rout over Montoursville to advance to the winners’ bracket semifinals. Muncy earned a 9-6 win against South Williamsport and Loyalsock defeated Jersey Shore/GSV, 6-2; and East Lycoming blanked Montgomery, 8-0.

The win advances Loyalsock to the winners’ bracket semifinals to face East Lycoming on Friday at Hepburn Lycoming at 5:45 p.m while Muncy will face Williamsport Area on Friday at 8 p.m. at Hepburn Lycoming.

South Williamsport, Montoursville, Muncy and Jersey Shore/GSV fall into the elimination bracket.

Jersey Shore/GSV will face either Montgomery in Tuesday’s elimination game at Nippenose at 5:45 p.m. The winner of that contest faces Keystone at Beech Creek for a 5:45 p.m. elimination game on Wednesday. South Williamsport will play Montoursville in Wednesday’s elimination bracket game at 8 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.

• In 9-11 baseball competition, Keystone defeated South Williamsport, 12-2. Also in the 9-11 division, Montoursville edged rival Loyalsock, 8-5.

Keystone advances to the winners’ bracket final on Thursday against Montoursville at Montoursville for a 5:45 p.m. first pitch. The winner will advance to the district championship game on July 6 at Volunteer Stadium.

Loyalsock and South Williamsport fall into the elimination bracket and face each other at Hpeburn Lycoming on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
