West Branch Soccer Club hosts annual youth soccer camp

From Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, the West Branch Soccer Club hosted their annual youth soccer day camp. It was the 45th annual camp, which is the longest running youth sports camp in Clinton County.
The club welcomed 130 campers for a fun week of soccer skill instruction and games. With it being a World Cup year, there was a greater level of excitement. At the end of camp on Thursday, the players and staff performed the famous Norwegian Viking Row to the beat of a drum donated by the CU-Lock Haven Band Director James Eldreth.
Many sponsors in the Clinton County community stepped up to help make this an affordable event for the players and families. Each camper received five days of coaching along with a soccer ball and a camp T-shirt.
The camp was led by Lock Haven head men’s soccer coach, Patrick Long, and head women’s soccer coach, Jesse Urquhart, and staffed by a group of that consisted entirely of Lock Haven soccer student-athletes.
“Soccer is continuing to grow in our community and we appreciate all the support from the West Branch Soccer Club board and our community sponsors to make this such a successful event for kids in our area," said Long.
