BEA hopes to avenge 2025 loss, open season 4-0 at Tyrone

TYRONE - While Bald Eagle's Week 3 matchup against Penns Valley didn't start as anticipated, the second half better mirrored the success of its first two weeks. The Eagles erupted for 28 points through the third and fourth to get out to a 31-0 lead, and the result was their first 3-0 start since 2023.
With that, Bald Eagle (3-0) hopes to carry that version of itself into what should be a challenging road test at Tyrone (2-1) this Friday. Last season, the Golden Eagles got the better of the Eagles in front of their home crowd, so they'll be looking to avenge that loss on top of keeping their win streak alive.
Tyrone heads into Week 4 fresh off its first loss of the season against Central (3-0), which came in a tight overtime affair. It previously defeated Bald Eagle's rival in Bellefonte (1-2) in Week One and Westmont Hilltop (0-3) on the road to start the season 2-0.
Strength wise, the Golden Eagles are a bit more imposing on the defensive end. They've yet to give up over 300 yards in a game, and head into Week 4 allowing an average of 11.7 points per game.
That unit is led by senior end Kyler Suhoney - who has 31 tackles and two sacks through three games. Senior safety Caleb Whitby enters Friday's contest with 19 tackles and two interceptions, headlining a secondary that has five combined picks.
Offensively, Tyrone has only surpassed 14 points in a game once this season. The unit runs off the rushing success of Whitby and sophomore Reid Starr, who have combined for 300 yards and two scores while each averaging over four yards per carry.
Ben Walk has been inefficient under center, with five interceptions and a completion percentage of 40 percent. But he has a strong receiving option in Mason Emigh, who has turned 14 touches into 206 yards and four touchdowns this season, and has had some success throwing to Carter Gwinn and Jon Stroup as well.
For Bald Eagle, the hope is to build off its strongest defensive outing yet while also continuing what's been a successful turnaround on offense. After averaging 17 points per game and failing to surpass 30 points in 2025, the Eagles have averaged over 33 points and 360 yards through the first three games of 2026.
Sam Clark has surpassed 100 rushing yards twice this season, heading into Week 4 averaging over six yards per carry. He and Xavier Nagle have each scored four times this season and headline a rushing attack that's averaging almost seven yards per carry and 240 yards per game.
Chase Cane continues to blossom at quarterback, having surpassed 200 yards through the air and on the ground and completing over 72 percent of his passes. Luke Hosband and tight end Jack Kleisath have three combined touchdowns, with Hosband averaging 60 receiving yards per game. And Drew Nagle has caught and thrown for a score.
The question mark remains more on the defensive end, which gave up 59 combined points through Weeks One and Two. But a seven-point outing in which it held Penns Valley scoreless for three-and-a-half quarters should give Bald Eagle some momentum there.
Friday's game at Tyrone is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
