Bellefonte's cross country teams opened its dual-meet season on a humid day at Penns Valley, taking on the Rams and Philipsburg-Osceola. The Bellefonte girls swept their side of the meet with a gritty 26-32 win vs. Penns Valley and a dominant 15-50 performance over Philipsburg-Osceola.
The Bellefonte boys mirrored that success with wins over Penns Valley (23-35) and Philipsburg-Osceola (16-44).
On the girls side, Alissa Kyte-Yech spear-headed the Bellefonte squad by crossing the finish line first for the team in 24:49. She was backed by strong performances across the lineup.
Emily Moretz finished in 25:25, Aaylynn Cernuska ran a 27:21, Emma Crater ran a 28:33, Megan Showers ran a 30;57, Molly Showers ran a 30:59, Adelina Zanzalari finished in 31:30 and Aruuke Mombekova finished in 32:03.
On the boys side, Jonathan Gasper set the pace for the entire race, claiming the individual win in 18:28. The rest of the Raiders had success as Maverick Muchmore ran a 19:17, Bowen Williams ran a 19:46, Ethan Karmelita finished in 20:40, Carson Fritchman finished in 20:45, Grady Stringer finished in 21:14, Braeden Strohm finished in 23:22, Kaiden Musser finished in 24:22, Brent Esienhower ran a 25:32, Blaise Adams ran a 26:34 and Justin Roberts ran a 26:19.
