Central Mountain junior Nolan Karstetter advanced to the District 6 Class AAA golf championships with a strong performance at the sectional tournament held at Sinking Valley Golf Course.
Karstetter battled through tough, wet course conditions to card a 5-over par 77, earning a tie for sixth place. The conditions made scoring difficult throughout the day, but Karstetter remained steady to finish among the top golfers in the field.
The top 10 golfers and ties advanced to the District 6 championships, allowing Karstetter to move on to the next stage of postseason play.
Hollidaysburg's Tyler Steiner led the field with a 1-over 73, State College's Luke McCraw and Luke Ladrido both tied for second wtih a 2-over 74.
Taking fourth was State College's Jacky Sun (3-over 75), fifth was Lyle Rioux of State College (4-over 76) and Henry Jacobs and Alex Hoskins of State College tied with Karstetter for a 5-over 77 for sixth place.
Charlie Ladrido of State College, Mason Bender of Hollidaysburg and Landen Petrunak of Hollidaysburg all shot 6-over 78s to tie for ninth.
He will compete next Tuesday at the District 6 Class AAA golf championships and will look to continue his postseason run and compete for a spot in the state championships.
