Bald Eagle Area wasn't able to find the back of the net in a loss to Bedford, 9-0. Bedford out-shot the Eagles, 24-2. Cami Walker recorded 15 saves in goal for Bald Eagle Area.
"We played Bedford pretty well in the first half and we knew it would be a tough game because Bedford is a good team. I felt like we were still in it at the half with only being down 2-0 and we were getting some chances here and there," Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore said. "We gave one up early in the second half and held tough for a while, but Bedford got a fourth goal with 16 minutes left.
"A team like Bedford never takes their foot off the pedal and put five goals in the last seven minutes, while we rested some of our starters," Moore added.
• The Williamsport boys and girls’ cross country teams put together excellent races Tuesday, sweeping quad meets against Jersey Shore, Central Mountain and Mifflinburg. Williamsport’s Jude Fisher (18 minutes, 50 seconds) and Madeline Sanders (23:34) each won their respective races in thrilling fashion, taking them in a second or less. Lauger Waldman, Brysen Thornton and Noah Baird took third, fourth and fifth in the boys’ race with Jersey Shore’s Sam Davis finish in second, less than a second behind Fisher.
Sanders held off teammate Loisa Hofstrom who took second, while Lola Kastner was fifth. Central Mountain’s Gabriella Hosley and Emma Wolfe finished in second and third.
• Jersey Shore’s Gabe Welshans scored off an assist by Dylan Hensler, but the Bulldogs suffered a lopsided 10-1 loss to Central Columbia in boys soccer.
The Bulldogs were able to fire off just four shots.
• Lock Haven’s women’s volleyball team won for its fifth win in six matches, sweeping three sets from Millersville, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-8. Lock Haven (10-5, 3-1 PSAC) hit .306 as a team and limited Millersville to a .044 hitting percentage and has won nine of 11 matches.
