Central Mountain held off Milton in the second half for a 3-2 victory on Tuesday in boys soccer competition. Eli Sandico and Yayfran Sanchez both scored in the first half for a 2-0 lead. Milton cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second half in the 49th minute when Orrie Godown scored off a Tobin Strous assist. Just 35 seconds later, Gabe Killinger of Central Mountain put the Wildcats back ahead by two.
Strouse scored in the 55th minute on a Godown assist, but Central Mountain wouldn’t allow a game-tying goal in the final 25 minutes of play.
With just over two minutes left, Montoursville’s CJ Lucas found the back of the net to give Montoursville a 1-0 win on the road against Jersey Shore. Lucas scored the goal off a header in the 78th minute to help give the Warriors the win. Jersey Shore out-shot the Warriors, 8-7.
• Montgomery swept Bucktail, 5-0. Arianna Snyder won at No. 1 singles over Kelsie Wagner in a three-set contest, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Montgomery’s Emily Miller defeated Makenna Phillips, 6-0, 6-2, and at No. 3 singles, it was Montgomery’s Avelyn Moore who defeated Riley Satizzoni, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, Leane Fouqet and Laine Solano beat Olivia Henderson and Rebekah Conway of Bucktail, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Sophia Snyder and Maddie Hamm beat Bucktail’s Kaitlin Paloskey and Emma Gentzyel, 6-2, 6-3.
• Central Mountain’s boys team swept a tri-meet against Warrior Run and Selinsgrove, placing six runners in the top 10. Warrior Run’s Cooper Deitterick won the race in 17:44. Central Mountain’s Shane Walker was second in 19:26. All but one of the finishers from Nos. 5-10 was from Central Mountain.
In the girls race, Central Mountain’s Gabriella Hosley finished fourth in a time of 22:25. Selinsgrove won the meet and took the top three places.
