After getting swept by Danville earlier in the season, Central Mountain girls tennis bounced back in a big way in Wednesday’s rematch at home. The Wildcats swept doubles and took home two singles wins, handing an undefeated Danville its first loss of the season by a score of 4-1.
In doubles, both Central Mountain duos – Kassie Williams and Tess Akeley at Doubles Court One and Kylee Markle and Erin Packer at Court 2 – overcame first-set losses, winning back-to-back sets to clinch crucial points for the Wildcats. Addison Lindsay clean swept District 4 singles champ Josie Bendle, and Lucy Walker won in straight sets at Singles Court 2.
“This was the greatest high school tennis match I have ever been a part of. There was just no quit in any of the girls on either side. My biggest win as a coach,” said Central Mountain girls tennis head coach Tom Zettle on the win.
“Doubles play today was absolutely amazing. Each having lost the first set did not deter them they came battling back. Addison was on top of her game today as usual. Could not be any prouder of these young ladies today. This was a big, big win.”
