Coming off a close 24-16 win last wek against Shippensburg to open the season on a high note, Lock Haven's football team is hoping to keep that success going by heading to American International College on Saturday for a Week 2 showdown.
The Bald Eagles hope to improve to 2-0.
Lock Haven had success moving the ball with 264 yards of offense, 185 of which came from the arm of Bald Eagle Area graduate Carson Nagle, who threw for 123 yards with two touchdown passes, going 12 for 22. Lock Haven's running attack struggled to get established, however. The Bald Eagles were led by Ezequiel Johnson who ran for just 75 yards on 11 attempts, but did score a touchdown.
Lock Haven will look to get the ground game going in conjunction with the passing attack this week. Mekhi Watson led Lock Haven's receiving group last week as he had a team-high five receptions for a team-high 70 yards. He also scored a touchdown as Artie Poindexter had Lock Haven's other touchdown catch.
Defensively, Lock Haven accounted for six sacks against Shippensburg as LucRichard Rameau and Martin Wantong both had 1 1/2, JahCure Maxam and Brayden Crisswell each had a sack and Rocco Daugherty and Lawrence Kensanzale both had half a sack.
American International College is coming off a 17-3 win over Monroe University. AIC saw Daron Bryden go 15 for 30 for 248 passing yards and a touchdown. Hardley Gilmore caught five passes for 110 yards and a touchdown, Eric Neal Jr. caught three for 56 and Vaughn Payne and Bo Catherwood each had 25 receiving yards.
Like Lock Haven, however, AIC struggled to run the ball with success. AIC had 107 rushing yards as a team with 41 coming from Judah Varfley and 37 from Catherwood.
