At Port Royal Speedway, Ricky Thornton Jr was the dominating car in Friday's late model preliminary feature as he picked up his fourth straight win at Port Royal.
Thornton Jr., who started in the third spot, would jump to the second spot right off the opening start, but it would only take three laps before Thornton would contest for the lead and overtake Chris Madden for the top spot. Thornton's biggest challenge came around the halfway point, when a caution would set up a restart and would allow Devin Moran, who was running in second, to have a shot for the lead on the restart.
Moran would hold on for the second spot and Jonathan Davenport, who started in 13th, would end up finishing in the third spot. Friday night's win for Thornton Jr. would be worth $10,000 but his eyes are set on the Saturday night prize which is a whopping $50,000.
In limited late model competition it would be all Jaxton Garman in the 20-lap feature event as he would lead from flag to flag for his second career Port Royal Speedway victory.
Saturday's Feature had $50,000 was up for grabs the Speedway for the the late model Dirt Series Rumble by the River. When all 50 laps were completed at the end of the night, it was Jonathan Davenport alone at the top claiming the large check and his fourth career win at the Juniata County half-mile.
When the green flag waved on the 50l-ap main event, Jonathan Davenport would begin showing the way, and he would finish that way too by leading all 50 laps. Thornton would finish in the runner up position and Brandon Overton would round out the top three.
In limited late model competition it would be Kyle Lee picking up his first victory in limited late model competition over a stacked 30-car field.
Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Saturday for the 172nd annual Juniata County Fair opener and 23rd annual super late model Butch Renninger Memorial. Alongside the super late models, there will be limited late models and wingless sportsman all on the racing card.
At Lincoln Speedway, Cameron Smith led from the opening lap and never looked back, capturing Saturday night's 35-lap Rack Daddies Rumble at Lincoln Speedway and collecting the $7,000 winner's paycheck.
Troy Wagaman finished second, Logan Rumsey crossed the line third and Danny Dietrich was fourth. Freddie Rahmer, who had been undefeated in Rack Daddies Rumble competition prior to tonight, finished fifth.
Tyler Ulrich led from the pole and held off a late charge from Cameron Merriman to score the $2,000 victory in Saturday night's 20-lap 358 sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway.
Lincoln Speedway is back in action this weekend with the Labor Day Duels for the 410 sprints and 358 sprints.
For the second week in a row Danny Dietrich claimed a victory in the 410 sprint car races at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night in the Billy Kimmel Memorial. He also home the WC Eshenaur last-lap pass award worth $500 with his win and the Gettysburg flyer pocketed $6,700, including a $200 bonus that was donated in memory of Billy Kimmel.
In the 358 sprint main it was Eli Tuckey taking his second division win in a row.
Williams Grove Speedway will present a fall Ccampionship for 410 sprint cars coming up this Friday night.
