Olivia Taylor of the Lock Haven women's volleyball team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

The weekly honor is the fourth of the season for Taylor, who leads the conference with 449 digs, which is 100 more than the next highest athlete.

Taylor turned in a dominant defensive week for the Lock Haven women’s volleyball team, totaling an incredible 73 digs (10.43 digs per set) across seven sets to lead the Bald Eagles to a perfect 2-0 week with victories over Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg.

Taylor opened the weekend with a sensational performance in Lock Haven’s 3-1 victory over Shippensburg, recording a match-high 41 digs, six assists and three service aces. Her 41 digs were an incredible 23 more than any other player in the match, helping the Bald Eagles secure their first season sweep of Shippensburg since 2014. Behind Taylor’s defensive effort, Lock Haven held an 87-78 advantage in team digs.

She followed with another outstanding performance in Saturday’s 3-0 sweep of East Stroudsburg, finishing with a match-high 32 digs in just three sets (10.67 digs per set). Taylor anchored the Bald Eagles’ back row throughout a tightly contested match, including a dramatic third set that featured 17 ties and seven lead changes.

Taylor’s defensive dominance helped Lock Haven extend its winning streak to five matches, improve to 13-5 overall and remain tied for first place in the PSAC Eastern Division with a 6-1 conference record. The Bald Eagles’ 13 victories are the program’s most in a season since 2015.
