Local roundup: Bellefonte softball defeats Tyrone 3-1

Bellefonte beat Tyrone, 3-1, in a close game in softball competition on Monday. The Red Raiders and Tyrone were tied 1-1 after three innings before Bellefonte took the lead with a run in the top of the fourth. Bellefonte then scored its final run in the seventh. Adrienne Masullo threw five innings for the Red Raiders, limiting Tyrone to one run, with seven strikeouts and four walks allowed. Bellefonte track and field sees success in home quad meet

BELLEFONTE - Opening their week in style. The Bellefonte track and field team got its week jumpstarted Tuesday as they hosted Central Cambria, Central and Penn Cambria. Both boys and girls had strong showings in the relay events. The girls took care of the 3,200-meter relay. The team consisting of Althea Helms, Madyson Miller, Natalie Jolley and Addison Fry topped out with a winning time of 9:48.79. Jersey Shore tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third at 1-all, but two runs in the top of the fourth by Shikellamy shifted the momentum back to the Braves en route to a 3-1 win in baseball. Both Shikellamy and Jersey Shore combined for six hits each. Carter Rhinehart went 2 for 4 with a double and run scored and Hunter Enders was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jersey Shore track and field sees success at Molly Dry Invite

Jersey Shore's track and field team had a standout performance at the Molly Dry Invitational in both girls and boys competition. Liz Hollick placed third overall in the 100 hurdles.  In the 400, Jersey Shore's Aaralynn Kimble finished first while teammate Kathleen Loomis came in fifth as she recorded a PR. In the 300 hurdles, Chloe Corson finished in third place with a PR while Carson Watkins finished fifth for the boys.
