LOCK HAVEN – With all three candidates cross-filed, two are looking to punch their ticket for the November election of Magisterial District Judge District II in Clinton County.
Candidate Heidi Wright was the top vote-getter on the Republican ballot with nearly 1,000 votes in Tuesday's Primary Election, according to preliminary results from the Clinton County Voter Registrar's office.
Wright received 956 votes. Of that number, 893 were cast in-person on Tuesday and another 63 were cast via mail-in ballot.
On the Republican ballot, she was followed by candidate Jed Hill who received 418 votes. Of that number, 398 were cast in-person and another 29 were via mail-in ballot.
Coming in last on the Republican ticket was Kristin Smith, who received 399 votes. Of that number, 351 were cast in-person and another 48 were cast via mail-in ballot.
No write-ins were recorded.
However, on the Democratic ballot, Smith received the top number of votes, according to preliminary results – meaning she may still have a shot in November.
Smith received 265 votes on the Democratic ballot. Of that number, 159 were cast in-person and another 106 were cast via mail-ballot.
Following just behind Smith was Wright, with 263 votes. Of that number, 194 were cast at the polls on Tuesday and another 69 were by mail-in ballot.
Hill came in last, with 216 votes. Of that number, 155 were cast in-person and another 61 were made via mail-in ballot.
One write-in vote was recorded by the voter registrar's office.
If the results hold, Wright will secure the Republican spot on November's ballot, and Smith will be included in the Democratic spot.
The district II seat is currently held by Judge John Maggs, who did not seek re-election after over 20 years. The district covers Bald Eagle Township, Beech Creek Borough, Beech Creek Township, Greene Township, Lamar Township, Logan Township, Porter Township, Loganton Borough and Mill Hall Borough.
