The United States Canoe Association kicks off for the first day of races today. Over 70 boats took to the water for the national competition. Races took place, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Each race was separated between single and double person kayaks and canoes. Competitors began at the Lockport Boat Launch and proceeded up to the rapids of the West Branch of the Susquehanna. Racers then loop back around to the boat launch either one or twice, depending on the race.
