China hits back at US sanctions on tech giants, restricting its exports to American defense firms

BEIJING (AP) -- China has announced sanctions on 10 American defense companies. The move comes in response to a recent U.S. decision that bars some Chinese tech companies from defense contracts. The Chinese Commerce Ministry said Monday that exporters will be blocked from selling "dual-use" items to the sanctioned U.S. firms. Such items have both military and non-military applications. Separately, China's Finance Ministry said that government entities would be prohibited from buying products from 46 American companies including multiple units of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics. The U.S. Defense Department recently added several Chinese tech firms to a list that prevents them from securing U.S. military contracts.
