Art exhibit in LHU’s Sloan gallery features work by Dave Kube

LOCK HAVEN — Artist Dave Kube’s exhibit, “Counter Encounter,” is on display in the Lock Haven University John Sloan Fine Arts Center Gallery through Friday, Feb. 22.

The exhibit is open for free public viewing from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. A reception and artist’s talk will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 in the gallery.

Kube has a Bachelor’s degree in visual art from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Master’s degree in photography from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. His work ties into queer theory and has been exhibited throughout the country including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Chicago, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, California and Florida.

Kube has curated and juried a number of exhibitions related to themes of sexuality and identity. He was the recipient of a month-long residency fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center and is an assistant professor of photography at Bloomsburg University.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in cooperation with Student Auxiliary Services of LHU.
