Orthopaedics returns to Geisinger JS Hospital
JERSEY SHORE–Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital announced recently the availability of orthopaedic care with the return of board-certified orthopaedic surgeon Thomas Connolly, M.D., to the community. He will treat patients at both Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital and Geisinger Lycoming in Montoursville.
“We are thrilled to have such an established and experienced orthopaedic surgeon in Jersey Shore,” said James Young, M.D., Geisinger North Central Region chief medical officer. “Dr. Connolly is utilizing brand new state-of-the-art orthopaedic surgery equipment, and our patients are benefiting from very favorable outcomes.”
Dr. Connolly cares for patients with degenerative conditions of the bones and joints as well as serious musculoskeletal injuries. He specializes in minimally invasive total knee and total hip replacement, back pain diagnosis and management, workers’ compensation evaluation, hand surgery, carpal tunnel surgery and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and surgery.
A graduate of Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Connolly completed a surgical internship at the Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is also a registered pharmacist.
Dr. Connolly previously practiced for eight years in Jersey Shore before moving his practice to Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. “Many noticeable improvements have taken place here during the last few years,” said Dr. Connolly. “It’s great to be back with the wonderful staff at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital.”
Dr. Connolly offers open appointments and easy patient access at two locations in Lycoming county. Office visits are often available within 24 hours, and if surgery is needed, procedures are conveniently performed at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital.
