LOCK HAVEN -An evening of arts and entertainment is being planned, and you’re invited.
Music and dance, voice and the visual arts – all will be represented at the Margery Krevsky Dosey Scholarship for the Arts Evening.
Planned for Thursday at 7 p.m., the event will take place at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center, and it will showcase the artistic talents of Lock Haven University students.
This is the fourth year this event has been offered, and it recognizes students who have benefited from the Margery Brown Dosey Scholarship for the Arts.
Dosey, a Lock Haven native and LHU alumna with an elementary education degree, has a passion for music and the arts. Today she resides in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and is founder, CEO and president of one of the largest premier full-service talent management agencies whose niche is recruiting, outfitting and training men and women as “product specialists” for auto shows.
“I created the scholarship for the music education department (about four years ago) and along with it I endowed to the university all the Steinway pianos,” Dosey explained. Today the Sloan Fine Arts Center houses 30 Steinway pianos, while a Baby Grand piano is situated in the Durrwachter Center and a Performance Grand piano is used at Price Auditorium.
On Thursday, Charlotte-Anne Eggler, who received her scholarship in the 2014-15 academic year, will perform on piano, and LingJing Wang, who received her scholarship in the 2013-14 academic year, will play violin.
The LHU Dance Club and Chorus will perform for the audience and an art exhibit featuring work by LHU students will be displayed in the Alumni Great Room.
Dosey spearheaded LHU’s effort to become an official All-Steinway School and has endowed a scholarship to reward musical excellence at LHU: The Margery Brown Dosey Scholarship for the Arts. In 2012, Dosey was inducted into the LHU Business Hall of Fame and most recently was recognized with the 2015 Distinguished Women’s Award by Northwood University.
