LHU Veterans Expo
A Veterans Benefits Expo will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at LHU Student Rec Center with exhibitors, information, a chance to register DD214s (discharge documents), free blood pressure and glucose screenings, door prizes, refreshments. Presentation of colors at 2:15 p.m.

Free dinner for vets in Porter Township
A free dinner for veterans and one guest is planned for 6 p.m. at the Porter Township Center, Lamar. Guest speaker is E.J. Irvin, an Army colonel. Reservations are to be made with Rose Ann, 570-748-7504.
Bucktail Veterans Day assembly
Bucktail Middle/Senior High School's annual Veterans Day Assembly Program will begin at 9:30 a.m., at the Dale Florey gymnasium in the high school. The 2017 theme is "Unity, A Nation United." There will be singing, video presentations, and speeches to honor veterans. Be ready to recognize a loved one who has served our country honorably.
As a special treat, Courtney Gardner Billings, Bucktail High School alumna, will return to the stage as a veteran to entertain with a musical selection. She served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Montana from 2013 to 2017. She worked as a fitness instructor, a missile chef, and an accountant for the base dining facility. Her husband has been serving in the Air Force for the last five years and is currently in New Mexico for training to be a crew chief on the F-16 Aircraft. In December, Courtney, her husband and their son are being stationed at Shaw AFB in South Carolina.
The public is invited to attend the assembly to remember all those who have fought and served to protect and defend our country and will continue to preserve the American way of life.
Prayer for America Service
The 15th annual Veterans Day Prayer for America Service will be held at 7 p.m., with Fair Play Brass playing at 6:30 p.m., at Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church, 235 S. Main St., the old stone church with a clock in the steeple. Led by the Jersey Shore Ministerium, it will feature an honor guard, scriptures, prayers, patriotic hymns, recognition of the fallen, interpreted folding of the flag, Young Marines as ushers, sign language interpretation by the Jersey Shore High School Sign Language Club, and special music by the Fair Play Brass, a multi-church choir, and others.
The public is invited to join in saying "thank you" to God for our veterans, our freedom, and our country, and ask God to bless those serving now, our leaders, our country and world.
The speaker this year is Gold Star mother Jean Ann Herold.

Robb Elementary invites veterans to program
The annual Veterans Day program at Robb Elementary will begin at 9 a.m. Letters were sent home with students inviting their family members who are veterans. The program is open to the public.
SV Charter students to perform for area veterans
The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School is hosting its annual Veterans Day program for all area military members, both past and present, and their families in their multi-purpose room at 236 E. Main St., Loganton.
The program will begin at 8:30 am with eighth grade student Corbin Homan as master of ceremonies.
Sugar Valley native and Air Force veteran Sgt. Kent Vonada will be the keynote speaker. Previous to his Air Force enlistment, Vonada also served three years in the Army Reserves.
Students from grades kindergarten through 12th grade will sing, read poems, perform tribute songs, and present art work, all in honor of our military veterans.

Free hot dogs for vets
There will be a soup, bake and craft sale with vendors at the Beech Creek-Blanchard Fire Company Social Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is held on Veterans Day, and free hot dogs are offered to veterans and troops. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Blanchard Baptist Cemetery upkeep.
Military men and women eat free
There will be an all-you-can-eat meal at the Yarnell Community Center beginning at 5 p.m. to benefit the Runville United Methodist Charge's missions teams. All active, reserve or retired military members will eat free at this meal in honor of Veteran's Day. The meal will feature homemade soups of ham and bean, chicken corn, vegetable and broccoli with cheese, and homemade bread, sandwiches, desserts and drinks. Military Museum free for veterans, families
The Pennsylvania Military Museum will be open on Veterans Day with free admission for military veterans and their immediate family members. The museum at 51 Boal Ave., Boalsburg, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MONDAY, NOV. 13
Free coffee, donuts for veterans
In celebration of Veterans Day, there will be free coffee and donuts offered at Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek to all local veterans and their guest from 8 to 11 a.m.
Free luncheon at Salvation Army
A free lunch will be offered to area veterans at 11:30 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., Lock Haven.
