LHU to host authors for reading, signing

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University’s Pennsylvania Authors Reading Series will host acclaimed authors Catherine Zobal Dent and Silas Dent Zobal at 7 p.m Thursday, March 22 in the multipurpose room of the Parsons Union Building.

The authors, who are married and teach at the Writers Institute at Susquehanna University, will read from their fiction and creative nonfiction. The reading is free and open to the public and includes a book-signing.

While at LHU, Dent and Zobal will visit various classes and serve as the keynote speakers for the student English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities (EAPSU) conference on Friday, March 23, where they will discuss, among other topics, “living a life of the arts” while balancing writing, teaching, and raising a family. The conference theme is “The Body Electric.”

Dent is a fiction writer, translator, and educator. Her debut collection, “Unfinished Stories of Girls,” was published in 2014 with Fomite Press, and she won a 2015 French Voices Award for her work in literary translation. She serves on the Faculty Advisory Board of FUSE National, and she directs the Common Reading Program as well as the Summer Writers Workshop at Susquehanna University, sharing the position of associate professor in the Department of English and Creative Writing with her spouse, writer Silas Dent Zobal.
