Police: Texting caused

rollover crash

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven City Police investigated a rollover crash that took place at 9:37 a.m. on April 20.

According to police, Brandon Bernazzoli of Altoona was traveling along South Jones Street in Lock Haven. He was texting and not paying attention to the road and his 2006 Saturn Vue struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Pamela Walkowiak of Lock Haven.

Bernazzoli’s vehicle rolled over as a result of the crash. Bernazzoli believed that a mechanical error caused the crash, but police found no evidence of that.

Damage to his vehicle was severe and needed to be towed from the scene. He was cited for texting while driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Crash closes I-99

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 99 for several hours early Monday morning.

According to police, a 2015 Volvo tractor trailer being driven by Vadim Rotari, 25, of Ashland, Mass., was traveling south on Interstate 99 near milemarker 80 in Spring Township, Centre County when it drifted off the roadway, struck a concrete bridge barrier and jackknifed. The crash caused severe damage to protective fencing and the vehicle lost most of its cargo over the bridge. Rotari sustained minor injuries in the crash and was tranported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Pleasant Gap EMS.

State police were assisted by Pleasant Gap Fire/EMS, PennDOT and Eagle Towing. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours. The accident took place at 11:44

State Police investigate

one-vehicle crash

WATERVILLE — State police at Montoursville were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash at 4:16 p.m. on April 19.

According to police, a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Jessica Pepperman, 29, of Jersey Shore, was traveling southbound on state route 287 at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a left-hand turn in the roadway. As a result, her vehicle left the road, struck an embankment, rotated approximately 70 degrees and re-entered the roadway. It then struck the guiderail before coming to rest. No injuries were reported in the crash. Police cited Pepperman for a violation.

DUI alleged in crash

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated a one-vehicle crash along Nittany Valley Drive in Walker Township, Centre County.

According to police, a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt being driven by Lacy Eisemann, 23, of Bellefonte, left the roadway, struck the guiderail and spun several times before coming to rest. Eisemann was found to be under the influence of controlled substances.

At that time, she was taken into custody for DUI. The crash took place at 1:58 a.m. on April 18. Eisemann was not hurt in the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by Walker Township Fire and Pleasant Gap EMS.

Man charged with DUI

MILESBURG — State police at Rockview charged Sherman Lowry, 39, of Bellefonte with driving under the influence on at 8:02 on April 17 following an altercation Snappy’s in Milesburg. Investigating officers found that Lowry was operating a motor vehicle. Charges against Lowry were filed through district court.
