What’s happening to the Republican party?

JIM FARR

Boalsburg

Finally! Nationally prominent Republican leaders are developing the spine to stand up to Donald Trump and to what’s happening to their party and our country.

Conservative columnist George Will said “don’t vote for Republicans.”

Steve Schmidt, a life-long Republican who worked as a strategist in the George W. Bush White House, says he’s had enough.

Last week, Schmidt blasted today’s Republican Party as “corrupt, indecent and immoral.”

He said, “The GOP is filled with feckless cowards” and that “today’s GOP has become a danger to our democracy and our values.”

He renounced his Republican Party membership and pledged to vote for Democrats to “preserve what is right and decent in the United States.”

Will and Schmidt are right. But all must join them if we want to stand up for “what is right and decent in the U.S.”

Republicans like Pennsylvania’s U.S. Reps. Glenn Thompson and Tom Marino proudly stand by in Washington as their party has become “a danger to our democracy and our values.” They don’t have the spine to utter a single word against their GOP masters and the GOP madness.

Vote them out! It’s up to us … each of us. Vote the do-nothing Republicans out of office in the fall.
