MILL HALL — The Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys has had a busy winter and spring. The month of December was a month of giving, especially with the help of the local community. By placing collection boxes in local businesses, the club was able to collect donations for two organizations: Roads to Peace benefited from hygiene and personal items and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Food Bank received food, dry goods and other non-perishable items, which are always welcome.
Throughout the year, the club also provides monthly Birthday Baskets to the children at the Clinton County Infant Development Program. Under the direction of BENV Kiwanian, Jodi Treas, the club provides these baskets with a birthday cake and other fun items to everyone there on their birthday.
In March, the club partnered with the Clinton County Housing Authority as part of the Kiwanis “Read Across Pennsylvania” Initiative. The theme this year was “Kids and Gardening.” After the read-along, the children were able to decorate their own planting pot.
Also in March, BENV Kiwanians hosted their annual fundraiser in conjunction with the Sons of Italy in Lock Haven. The annual Kash Bash was a huge success and will assist the club in providing additional services to the children and families of the Clinton County community for the next year.
Several members also participated in Career Day at Bucktail High School and provided information on the Kiwanis Key Leader program, a student leadership development weekend camp sponsored annually by Pennsylvania Kiwanis.
This spring, the club will transition to planning for their summer projects, including their signature project, the annual Kids Day, which will be held on Saturday, July 15, at the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Hall.
“We have been busy,” said Tim Meyers, BENV Club President. “There is never a shortage of things to do in our community, and we are happy to put so many smiles on so many faces!”
Chartered in 2012, the Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys is dedicated to making the world a better place by providing opportunities for children, youth and their families.
