The Sugar Valley Lions Club recently honored one of their long-time members, Matilda “Tillie” Beck, with the distinguished Melvin Jones Fellowship award. This award is given in recognition of the dedication and support of humanitarian service through their club, their immediate community and reaches many across the globe through Lions Clubs International. Lion Tillie has been a member of the Sugar Valley Lions Club since 1998, has held the offices of president, treasurer and zone chairperson, as well as having received the Lion of the Year award in 2003-2004 and a Pennsylvania Fellow Award in 2004. Pictured, from left, is Past District Governor James Crawley who presented the award to Lion Tillie while her husband, Carl Beck, had the honor of placing the lapel pin to be worn proudly as a testament of her dedication to humanitarian service and support to those where needs arise.
