Otto Bookstore to host virtual conversation with author Steve Israel

Steve Israel

WILLIAMSPORT — Otto Bookstore will host a virtual author conversation with Steve Israel from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, featuring a discussion of his newest historical fiction thriller and his career as both a writer and bookseller.

Israel is a former U.S. congressman who has since become a critically acclaimed author and independent bookstore owner. His latest novel, his third book, is a fast-paced historical thriller centered on an attempted abduction of Albert Einstein, blending real history with suspense and espionage.

The virtual event will be moderated by Mark Mussina and will include a live discussion followed by audience Q&A. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase in advance of the event through Otto Bookstore.

“Steve Israel brings a fascinating perspective as someone who has served in public office and now dedicates his life to books and storytelling,” said John Shableski, general manager at the Otto Bookstore. “We’re excited to give our community the opportunity to engage with him in this virtual format while still supporting independent bookselling.”

Otto Bookstore co-owner Kathryn Nassberg said the event reflects the store’s commitment to meaningful literary programming.

“This conversation highlights exactly why we value author events,” Nassberg said. “Steve’s work combines history, imagination and timely themes, and we’re proud to host this event and make signed copies available to readers.”

The event is free and open to the public. Registration details and book ordering information can be found at ottobookstore.com/event/2026-01-24/special-book-release-event-chris-yohn.

Starting at $3.69/week.
