Shoe Bank to be open Sept. 15

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will give free new shoes to eligible kids and teens on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Shoe Bank will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., two doors up the street from Triangle Park.

Children and young people, from wee ones through 17-year-olds, are eligible if they have a CHIP card, a similar insurance card, or a Medical Access card. Kids and teens also may be referred by an agency or organization.

The Shoe Bank serves families throughout Clinton County and the Liberty-Curtin Elementary School area.

Kids and teens are invited to choose a free pair of new shoes, the ones they like the best in their size. The shoes are usually good quality sneakers, and many are popular name brands. A selection of shoes is available in most whole sizes, for tiny tots’ feet all the way up through big teen sizes, for both boys and girls.

The shoes come with a free new pair of socks, and kids are encouraged to take a free book or two home with them.

The Shoe Bank is open the third Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Volunteers are always welcome.

Anyone who knows a family who can benefit from this service is encouraged to pass the word along. For more information about the Shoe Bank or on how to become a volunteer, call Wendy at 570-295-3443.
