Wood Carving at VFW
The VFW Post 1630 willl sponsor a Wood Carving Event on Labor Day Weekend at the post home on East Water Street. The event, free and open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to dusk Friday through Sunday, Sept. 4-6. Quick Carve events are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday with the auction on Sunday at 2 p.m. Food will be available on site.
The club opens at 11 a.m.
Red Raider nickname
There will be a peaceful rally at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Centre County courthouse in support of keeping the Red Raider nickname in the Bellefonte Area School District.
Those attending are asked to wear Red Raider gear, a mask, practice social distancing and bring their “Red Raider Spirit.”
Sunday evening concert
In light of the numerous cancellations due to COVID-19, the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association is pleased to announce the extension of their Sunday evening summer concert series in Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte. Sunday, Aug. 23, John Thompson and the Denicats will be performing blues and jazz onstage at the gazebo. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair and please wear a mask and practice social distancing. In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled. Aug. 31, the series will feature Western Range and their toe-tapping Texas music.
