Cardboard Boat Races set for June 28 at Riverfest
LOCK HAVEN — Schlesinger Communications, Inc. recently announced the return of the Cardboard Boat Races as part of Riverfest in Woodward Township on Saturday, June 28.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. with judging slated for 11 a.m. and races beginning at 12 p.m.
Entry fee is $10 per participant with prizes being awarded for “Best Boat Design,” “Best Theme for Boat and Costume” and “The Titanic Award (Best Sinker)” along with race winners for each age group.
Age groups include: children age 8-12, youth age 13-17, adult age 18-49, adults age 18 to 49, adults age 50 and up and family/group/organizations.
Requirements for the event include: wearing appropriate sized life preserver; must wear a whistle; must wear river shoes — no flip flops are permitted; you must supply your own oars and paddles — no motors; and boats must be built with only cardboard, duct tape, nontoxic glue and paint.
