MILL HALL — During the first weekend in May, the Central Mountain Majorettes traveled to Wildwood, N.J., to compete in the Tournament Indoor Association (TIA) Atlantic Coast Championships. This was a weekend long event that ended with success and gold.

The Majorettes started their indoor season in early February, with regular season competitions almost every weekend.

Early on in the season, the Majorettes were honored by being promoted to Open Class. This is one of the highest skill levels classed according to TIA rules. Classifications are as follows: Novice, Regional A, A, Open and World.

The team set some goals early on to push for this promotion after being in the A class since 2022.

Each week, the team would review feedback from judging panels and continue to improve choreography for their show titled “The Struggle Is Real.”

New goals were set and exceeded in this new skill class, with the icing on the cake being that the team was able to bring another championship banner home to Central Mountain High School.

The team included 18 students from KCSD, SVRCS, Catholic and Cyber schools ranging from 5th to 12th grade. One of the biggest challenges this year was saying goodbye to seniors. Three of the students will be graduating in June, and watching them grow into strong, confident baton twirlers was amazing.

KCSD is excited to be offering an Elementary Baton Twirling program starting in the fall of the 2026 school year, which will also be led by Majorette Coach Stephanie Ford.

The Varsity Team and Elementary team (AKA Central Mountain Mini Majorettes) will be offering open summer practices and will be participating in community events throughout the summer.

For more information on either of the teams please reach out to Stephanie Ford at sford@kcds.k12.pa.us.
