Sarina Bower, of Jersey Shore, and her 6 year old Chincoteague Pony, Legacy’s Island Renegade (aka Chip), competed in The National Dressage Pony Cup at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio, from July 4-6. Nearly 500 horse and rider combinations made the trip to WEC for the largest Dressage show in the country. The pair ended the weekend with two seconds, an eighth and a ninth. In addition to the individual placings for each test, the pair earned a breed champion award and an overall placing of 7th place nationally in the adult amateur pony division. Bower said, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever have this opportunity. I have done all of the training with Chip myself; from putting his first halter on all the way up to where we are now. To compete at this level and earn these placings is just surreal.” Close friend, Sarah Harmon, also of Jersey Shore, accompanied Bower to the show to help out with everything from cleaning stalls to taking pictures. Harmon said, “It’s been incredible watching Chip come along with training. It was an amazing experience!!” Bower added, “It was the experience of a lifetime; the hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours of work have paid off. Everyone out there is working towards a goal, trying to reach your dreams, don’t you dare ever give up!”

Starting at $3.69/week.
