LOCK HAVEN — Downtown Lock Haven will be filled with the sound of music and art will grace various corners, thanks to the Lock Haven JAMS & Art on Main Street Festival.

The three-day event began Thursday and runs Friday and Saturday (Aug. 7-9).

Organized and run by the Clinton County Arts Council, the Clinton County Community Foundation has yet again provided the nonprofit council with a grant to help fund the event, which brings thousands of people onto Main Street.

The festival kicked off Thursday night with a ticketed event featuring Nite-Time NYC in the historic Red Barn on Island Road, just east of Lock Haven.

Friday and Saturday’s events are all free and feature bands such as The Jaded Lips and Velveeta, both Friday evening.

Saturday’s bands include Central Mountain Jazz Cats; Elena Stenkina; Lone Crow Rebellion; Zapote and Hold Fast.

It is JAMS’ 10 anniversary and organizers are very excited to host great musicians, said the Arts Council’s Steve Getz.

Besides great sponsors and grants that fund the festival, it takes a lot of volunteers.

Getz said there are 20 to 25 people, including the council board, that run the show each year.

“We do a lot with a few people,” he mused.
