— Small business vendor sale at Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop by to browse and buy to help support local small businesses in our area.
— Bargains & Blessings Community Closet will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bossert Chiropractic, 2354 Eagle Valley Road, Beech Creek. Gently used, good quality clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family are available. Sizes range from infants to 3X and are priced at $5 per bag full. Bags will be provided. — Make America Kind Again (MAKA) rally event, 12-1 p.m., at Triangle Park in Lock Haven. The public is invited to come and show your support of this new movement that encourages everyone to show more kindness, peace and civility to others.
Sunday, Sept. 7
— Basket raffle benefit at Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This benefit is to raise funds to pay funeral expenses of Calvin “Lou” Young who passed away on July 7. In addition to basket raffle there will be a 50/50, baked goods sale and the kitchen will be open. Donations of raffle items are needed. Call Mary at 570-962-2904 for info.

Monday, Sept. 8
— Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution (moved because of Labor Day holiday), noon to 3 p.m., at the former Beech Creek Elementary. Bring a sturdy box with you.
— Red Cross Blood Drive at Tri County North Central Church in Mill Hall, 1-6 p.m.
— Wingate Faith Church Potpie sale, pick up at 4 p.m. Pre-orders are best, 814-883-0893, and walk-in sales are welcomed starting at 4 p.m. until sold out. Ham or chicken pot pie $9/quart.
— Lock Haven City Council’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m., at city hall and streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
— Dunnstown Fire Company offers a Cash Bingo every Monday night at the fire station on 119 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. and all proceeds help to support the fire company’s needs.
— Cash Bingo will be held at St. John’s Catholic School, 116 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, to benefit the Bellefonte Knights of Columbus. Doors will be open to the public for food, plenty of homemade baked goods and dinner items, and small games of chance at 6 p.m., with Bingo starting at 7 p.m. The cost to play is $20 for 20 games, and the payouts will be $850 each month. The school is a smoke-free facility and walk-ins are welcome to come to play Bingo.
Tuesday, Sept. 9
— KBR Bingo holds Cash Bingo every Tuesday night, 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Call Deb at 570-660-2647.
— The Clinton County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. in the Poorman Gallery, 352 E. Water St., Lock Haven. The program is open to the public and free of charge. Guest speaker Beatrice “Bebe” Fultz will discuss the life and accomplishments of her famous ancestor Sybil Ludington, known in history as the female Paul Revere. In 1777, 16-year-old Sybil rode her horse over 40 miles to alert Americans that the British were marching to Danbury, Conn., to destroy American weapons and ammunition stockpiled there.
A brief membership meeting will be held to elect a vice-president and treasurer.
— Nittany Valley Writers Network will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Schlow Library’s Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Author and graphic designer L. Bossi will speak on self-publishing and creating her trilogy of fully illustrated high fantasy novels — The Piri Project: Exordium, Nadir and Apotheosis. The event is free and open to the public.
— The Alzheimer’s and Caregivers’ Support Group will meet from 7-8 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. There is convenient parking next to the church and a handicapped accessible entrance.
Kellie Breen, Marketing Director for Haven Place Rehabilitation and Senior Living and Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living will be the guest speaker and will provide information on services provided including subacute rehab, long term care and independent living. There will also be a time of sharing caregiver concerns. Sitter service can be provided to the person with memory loss at the church while caregivers are attending the meeting. Wednesday, Sept. 10
— Ross Library Fall Book Sale Preview, 5-7 p.m. $20 Admission includes wine and light refreshments. Tickets by calling 570-748-3321.
— The PA Happy Travelers will meet at 3 p.m., at the Lock Haven STEP Center, 124 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven. Those going to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick in October should attend this meeting to pick up luggage tags and itineraries. If unable to attend, call Rita Ruhl at 570-748-4226 to make alternate arrangements. Everyone is invited to travel with the PA Happy Travelers. Come to the meeting and learn about the upcoming trips planned.
Thursday, Sept. 11
— The BEN Class of 1961 will be having a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Haywood’s on the Green in Mill Hall. All classmates and guests are invited. .
— Milesburg Lions Club Bingo at the community center, 6:45 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
— Howard Area Lions Bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Beech Creek Fire Co. social hall. Doors and the kitchen open at 5:30 p.m. Lions Bingo will be held on the second and fourth Thursday evenings (except in Nov. and Dec. because of holidays).
— Ross Library Fall Book Sale, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
— Blood Drive at Holy Spirit Parish, from 1-6 p.m., at the church social hall, 7 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting the RedCrossBlood.org website or call 1-800-733-2767. Walk-ins are always welcomed!
