BELLEFONTE — Centre County LifeLink announced Tuesday its decision to discontinue its non-emergency van service, effective Sept. 30.

The service has operated for nearly 30 years.

The van service was implemented in 1998 after Centre County LifeLink recognized a growing need for non-emergency transportation in the Centre Region.

“In the last five years, our transport volume has decreased significantly, and we are no longer able to financially support the service,” Centre LifeLink EMS Administration and Board of Directors said in a statement.

“We have valued our patients and families who have trusted their care to our incredible non-emergency van attendants,” they added.

Centre County LifeLink said staff are available by phone at 814-231-8988 for questions or assistance with transitioning to an alternative transportation service.
