Autumn events continue across community
LOCK HAVEN — The month of October has brought colorful trees, cooler temperatures and a few frosts on the pumpkin patches. With Halloween fast approaching, a calendar full of community events and fall traditions are right here to enjoy!
Below is a look at some of the October and Halloween-themed events that are on the calendar.

Festivals and
Parades
— The City of Lock Haven Halloween Parade will be Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m.
— Talleyrand Fall Fest and Annual Halloween Parade, organized by Bellefonte Area Rotary, will be Oct. 25 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Annex side (Match Factory side) of Talleyrand Park. The Rotary fundraiser raises money to be distributed to various community organizations and causes throughout the year, including the Bellefonte YMCA, Faith Centre, Centre County Library, Bellefonte Youth Center and more. The Halloween Parade line will form around 10 a.m. at the Bellefonte Elementary School and will head toward Talleyrand Park at 11 a.m.
— Oct. 25, Wayne Township Recreation Committee’s hayrides from 4-7 p.m. in the Restless Oaks parking lot. Scenic hayride on Reservoir Road towards the McElhattan Reservoir, 30 minutes. Dress for colder weather. Go to the pavilion for loading. Cost is a donation.
— The Castanea Township Recreation Committee’s Halloween Parade, Sunday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m. The parade will be running the length of Brown Street and ending at the Castanea Fire Company on McElhattan Avenue. A children’s magic show is planned at the Fire Company following the parade. Floats, bands and parade participants are encouraged!! Prizes are awarded but pre-registration is necessary. Contact Rick Schulze, Chairperson of the Recreation Committee, at fschulze@comcast.net. Rain date for the parade is Monday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m.
— Howard Borough Halloween Parade is on Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. Participants should dress and be at the fire hall ready to go at 5 p.m. Pets are welcomed to be in the parade, too, but must be on a leash. Following the parade when it returns to the fire hall, prizes will be awarded and treat bags given out. Call 814-571-4160 for info.
— St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding its Fall Fair on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The fair will feature a very large yard sale, bake sale and fudge sale and raffle table. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall. On the menu are walking tacos, yummy sandwiches, homemade soups, delicious homemade pies, cakes and desserts. The soups being offered are vegetable beef, ham and bean and chicken corn soup. Quarts of soup may also be purchased at $7/quart. To place your order for quarts of soup, please call the church office at 570-748-5741 and leave a message.
Trunk or Treat!
— Oct. 25, Trunk or Treating at The Express office immediately following the Halloween Parade until 12 p.m. Follow the balloons down the alley to the back room of The Express office to claim your treats.
— Oct. 25, Halloween in the Park at Woolrich Park, 4-7 p.m. Enjoy trunk or treating, hay rides and dress for a costume contest. Event is sponsored by the Pine Creek Township Recreation Committee.
— Oct. 25, Wayne Township’s Trunk or Treat and the Bates Motel will be held at the Wayne Township Nature Park from 4-6 p.m. The committee will also offer hayrides from 4-7 p.m. with the last load departing at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Restless Oaks Restaurant. Refreshments will be served and the cost is donation.
— Oct. 26, from 4-7:30 p.m., Bellefonte Union Cemetery will have their annual Trunk or Treat along W. Howard St. from Spring St. to Allegheny St, Bellefonte. The pet-friendly event will be fun for the whole family. Snyder’s Concessions will offer food.
— Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m., the Ross Library will have a trunk or treat with a storybook twist in their parking lot.
— Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m., Trunk or Treat at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church. There will be many trunks with lots of candy along with free hotdogs and snacks. There will also be fun activities.
— Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., Jersey Shore Area School District Renaissance Club will host a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot of Jersey Shore Area Elementary, 601 Locust St., Jersey Shore.
— Oct. 31, from 4-8 p.m., JB Wrenchin, 308 E. Church St., Lock Haven, will hold a Trunk or Treat. Candy, food, games, prizes and more. Chances to win a free oil change and state inspection.
— Oct. 31, from 6-9 p.m., New Hope Fellowship Trunk or Treat fall festival. The festival will include candy, games, food, barrel train rides, face painting and a cider press. All are invited! The church is located along Rt. 64, at 6436 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall.
