LOCK HAVEN — September’s Dems Get Things Done donation was delivered to Laura Orndorf, Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)-Lock Haven. This organization builds and delivers complete bed sets — frames, mattresses and bedding — to children ages 3-17 in need throughout our region. The local SHP chapter serves the Keystone Central, Jersey Shore and Bellefonte School Districts, covering all of Clinton County, much of Centre County, and the western edge of Lycoming County.
Dems Get Things Done is the monthly outreach project of the Clinton County Democratic Committee (CCDC) and Clinton County Democratic Women (CCDW). It provides an opportunity for the organizations to give back to the community — regardless of political affiliation — by choosing a local group each month that can benefit from physical donations or supplies. Past recipients include the Veterans Affairs Office, SPCA, Renovo Elementary and Bucktail Middle School.
Laura Orndorf explained how the September donation helps. “If we get the bedding for beds, it keeps our costs reasonable and helps us to provide more beds in our area for kids.” The average cost to outfit one complete bed — including frame, mattress and bedding — ranges between $130 and $150.
