Friends of the Bald Eagle Valley hold fall work day along the trail
LOCK HAVEN — The Friends of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail (BEVT) recently held their annual fall work day along the Bald Eagle Valley Trail. Members of the all-volunteer organization spent the afternoon of Oct. 11 improving the trail experience for users through a variety of maintenance and beautification projects.
Volunteers picked up litter, cut back weeds and brush, repaired fencing and spruced up the Eisemann Native Wildflower and Pollinator Garden.
In addition, the group installed new mile markers beginning at mile 0 at the Castanea Trailhead, located near the Castanea Train Station. Markers were placed at half-mile intervals up to mile 3.5, with additional markers to be installed as more sections of the trail are completed.
The Friends of the BEVT work in partnership with Clinton County Government and the municipalities of Castanea and Wayne Townships to promote, maintain, enhance and improve the trail for all users.
“We’re proud of the work our volunteers continue to do to make the Bald Eagle Valley Trail a welcoming and well-maintained resource for the community,” said a group spokesperson and president Wayne McCollough. “Each season’s work day brings us closer to completing and improving this beautiful regional trail.”
The Friends of the BEVT are always looking for new members to join in their mission. Upcoming events include the November General Membership Meeting on Nov. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Clinton County Government Building, 2 Piper Way, Lock Haven, and the group’s Annual Dinner Meeting on Jan. 13, 2026, at the Village Tavern in Lock Haven.
