McELHATTAN — The Wayne Township Supervisors and Wayne Township Recreation Committee are pleased to offer the following:

HALLOWEEN EVENTS

On Saturday, Oct. 25, a Trunk or Treat and the Bates Motel will be held at the Wayne Township Nature Park from 4 to 6 p.m.

The committee will also offer hayrides from 4 to 7 p.m. with the last load departing at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Restless Oaks Restaurant. Refreshments will be served and the cost is donation.

Halloween events are coming in about two weeks. If you, your family or your business would like to set up a trunk at the trunk or treat event please contact a committee member or message the committee through Facebook. Individuals welcomed. Small groups and businesses may also participate and promote their organization by labeling candy, dropping a business card in a candy bag, or using a vehicle with a placard or logo. Decorate your trunk, yourself or just come. It’s up to you. This is a family-friendly event for young children and a perfect way to be involved with your community.

When finished, take a peek at the Bates Motel at the Holiday House for a special surprise (be aware this may frighten youngsters.) Then drive over to Restless Oaks Restaurant parking lot for a relaxing hayride and enjoy some refreshments.

Halloween events sponsors are: Chatham Run Feed Mill, Lowes, Weis Markets and Dunkin Donuts.

DECEMBER EVENTS

December will be jammed packed with holiday events.

Santa will be visiting the Holiday House on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Special thanks to H2O Express for your donation to help with this event.

The Tree Decorating Contest will be held again at the Nature Park with great prizes. Get your business, family and friends to decorate a tree. Additional information will be provided.

The Home/Business Decorating contest will be different this year. Homes and businesses will be judged on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. This year, you must register your home or business through the committee’s Facebook page to be judged. Additional information will be provided.

Truck Lite Community Committee and the Wayne Township Recreation Committee will be hiding the “Elves in the Nature Park.” This returning contest is a favorite family event. Anytime after Nov. 17, visit the Nature Park and walk the loop and enter how many elves you see throughout the park. Fun for everyone. Prizes to the winner!

ICE SKATING RINK

Watch for cold weather for dates when the ice skating rink opens. The committee has additional skates this year thanks to all the donations they received. Skating Party dates will be announced when the weather cooperates.

VALENTINE’S DAY

For the first time ever, plans are underway for a Valentines Day special event at the Holiday House. Stay tuned.

Big plans are under way for America250PA on May 29, 30 and 31, 2026. Keep watching for announcements!
